Lady Malek Collection
The collection of artworks donated by Mrs. Ezzat Malek is one of the most fascinating parts of Malek National Museum. The collection was gradually acquired and gathered in her father's house by the educated and art-loving lady.
Ezzat Malek is the daughter of Haj Hossein Agha and granddaughter of Qodsieh (daughter of Seyed Abdollah, guardian of Gowharshad Mosque). She was born in Mashad in late 19th century, and because of her passionate interest in the Iranian art and culture she was appointed as honorary supervisor of Malek endowments.
In the autumn of 2005 she arranged an exhibition of her donated collection which includes 47 exquisite artworks in Malek National Museum. The collection, which was bought abroad and brought to Iran, exhibit a fantastic variety of unique artworks.
Among the works kept in the collection are exquisite copies of the Holy Quran, calligraphy works and watercolor and oil paintings by Iranian artists of the Safavid and Qajar periods as well as documents such as letters of endowments.
