According to a report by the Malek National Museum and Library's Public Relations, a group of Iraqi restoration technicians attended a training course in Iran.

Eleven Iraqi technicians specialized in the restoration of papers and books, who had earlier requested for courses in paper restoration through the Organization for Reconstruction of Holy Shrines in Iran, arrived in Iran to attend the courses. The group included technicians from Imam Hossein's (AS) shrine in Karbala, the holy shrines in Kazemain and the holy shrine of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf. The trainees passed the courses at the Tehran University, Library of Ayatollah Mar'ashi in Qom, the Restoration Research Center at the Organization of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism, and the bindery of the Malek National Museum Library. Subjects of this course included natural dyes, working glues, box making and the needed materials, a study of paper, cardboard and different leathers, book bindings and softeners for old and new leathers.

The restoration and preservation section of Malek National Museum and Library takes on the training of a number of artists and restoration technicians every year.
