Acquisition

The process of collection building is performed in this Department which includes: selection, order, supply, registration and donation of resources.  The collection of books and periodicals of the library are supplied through granting, purchasing, donating and exchanging law. Concerning the policies of the Library and on the basis of the survey on the needs of the users, the priority of purchase is given to the books in the field of Islamic and Iranian Art, Iranology and Human and Social Sciences. Part of the necessary books in Latin languages and periodicals of the library are supplied through book exhibitions and in particular the International Book Fair of Tehran.


Cataloguing


This Department is in charge of cataloguing and processing the collections of Persian, Arabic, English books and other language as well. 
The technical responsibility of weeding the printed collections and cooperating with the Acquisition Department to identify and prepare new resources are some other duties of this Department. The cataloguing of books in this Department is performed in accordance with the regulations of Angelo-American Cataloguing and on the basis of classification system of American Library of Congress and by using the extension classification of National Library of I.R. of Iran.
