Documentation
The documentation section began independent operation in 2009. The section is responsible for photographing, and creating backup versions of the works, preparing identification cards and documenting all historical-cultural works of the institute.
Preservation and Restoration
The necessity for a preservation and restoration section was felt in 1995 after the entire Malek collection was moved from the old library in the house in Tehran's Beinolharamein Bazaar area to the present headquarters and the inauguration of Malek National Library and Museum. In 2001 according to an injunction from Malek Endowments Organization, the project for the establishment of a laboratory and workshop started. The workshop began operation in the second half of 2009.Currently the task of updating the equipment in the laboratory and workshop is part of the promotion projects.
Book-Binding
Initially stationed in the old building of Malek National Library and Museum, the section began the task of book-binding printed and lithograph books in 1994.Then in 1996, the section added the binding of manuscript books to its programs. In 1997 the museum and library were moved to their new locality in the National Garden - opposite the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building. Currently the operations of the book-binding section are carried out by two craftsmen who bind manuscript books according to the traditional methods. After the books have been received from the book treasury, they are photographed in their entirety. Then the books are broken up and previous unmethodical restorations are undone, before restoration works are undertaken. Restoration and new book binding are done with the Japanese type of "tissue" paper which is manufactured with the use of natural dyes, and then the entire book is photographed and bound after the restoration of the old book covers.
